School? What school?

BY SARACH

The school term has officially started. I haven’t been going to school. No, I didn’t skip class – there’s something called internship.

So, I’ve been interning at a PR agency as a Junior Associate. Sounds pretty cool right? But I’m just an intern, basically.

Every morning, the same thing happens: flipping through the newspaper and online news sites for media monitoring. This happens for at least a good hour. And then, it depends on what work my colleagues give me. Some days are busier than others, and I may have to stay back a little longer, but that’s fine.

Work has been pretty enjoyable actually. My colleagues are really fun, and I really enjoy working with them, or just simply doing the work together. Being actually in the industry has really opened up a lot of new experiences and opportunities. I’ve actually drafted some media documents (which underwent major editing obviously) and gone for events to help out with facilitating interviews.

Food has been amazing too. Woah, the hawker centre just down the road is good and cheap. There are so many options that everyday, I have the problem of deciding what I want to eat. And there are also loads of small eateries around the area, a bit more expensive, but also equally reasonable.

So, just as a quick update, internship has been good so far. And I actually enjoy it, although it can get tiring, but work is such. Yay!

The F#&$ Jar Reveal

BY STEFITH

jar

Here it is folks- somewhat delayed, and something like two weeks late, but it’s The F#&$ Jar Reveal! If you’ve been reading the blog, you probably would have read this post in March, where I shared how I was going to give up the f-word for Lent. As such, every time I said it, I had to put $1 in The F#&$ Jar, and at the end of Lent, all the money would go to charity.

For laughs and giggles and possibly to embarrass myself forever, I decided to make a video of the entire F#&$ Jar Reveal!

So, if you want to know just how terrible a person I was this Lent, and just how much money wound up in my jar- watch the video below!

Thank you everyone for all your support, and do let me know- should I try doing more videos, or should I just stick to writing? Cheers!

19 Reasons Why Sarach Rocks

BY STEFITH

Guess what day today is- no prizes if you got it right, but today marks the day this crazy woman/my blogging partner came into the world.

It’s Sarach’s 19th birthday! 😀

Sarach has been such an important part of my life ever since we met in 2013, and I think our friendship has really helped me become a better Catholic and a better person. As such, here are 19 Reasons Why Sarach Rocks.

  1. She reminds me to take care of myself
  2. She makes lamer jokes/puns than I do, so I’m no longer the lamest person I know
  3. She plays the piano really well (meanwhile I can barely carry a tune)
  4. We have similar sleeping habits so I don’t feel like an old woman every time I sleep before midnight
  5. We are mutual crying-about-things buddies
  6. She gets my sarcastic and weird sense of humour
  7. She banters with me so easily (to the point that a mutual friend said we’re like a comedy routine)
  8. My online-shopping buddy, like if I see something I want to buy online (or heck, even IRL) she will hear about it
  9. She shares with me tips for modules she’s taken before and vice versa
  10. Sarach and I are foodie friends because we are constantly on the lookout for good food
  11. She deals with my hysterics
  12. SHE GIVES ME FOOD that is awesome
  13. I can always count on her to do something silly that will make me laugh no matter how bad my mood is
  14. She gives me fashion advice (her advice so far has been pretty good, just saying)
  15. She likes chocolate as much as I do
  16. We both harbour mutual desires of fame, but both agree that we’re too lazy to do anything about it
  17. We exchange ‘bloops’ and ‘meows’, along with cat and fish emojis, and no one understands us
  18. She listens to and considers all my harebrained schemes for the blog (like vlogging and random post ideas)
  19. She’s an amazing friend and the best gal-pal everrrr

Stefith and Sarach, with Frederico the Cactus

So, thank you very much Rahrah for being such an amazing part of my life! Let the potted plant I gave you for your birthday represent our friendship, so may it never die! (It will never die, because it’s an artificial cactus lol)

Stay fab, Sarach! xoxo

THE STONE ROLLED AWAY?!

BY SARACH

See the stone is rolled away, behold the empty tomb. Alleluia, God be praised! He’s risen from the grave!

That’s my favourite line from Man of Sorrows, a song by Hillsong and oh my gosh, it really makes the hairs on my arms stand whenever I listen to that line because it speaks the truth. Which is why, it’s also my favourite so-called Christian/Catholic event of the year!

Jesus Christ is risen today! Alleluia!

Easter is indeed the biggest and greatest of all Catholic celebrations – yes, including Christmas – because on this day, we commemorate Christ rising from the dead and without him actually doing that, I probably won’t be here writing this post.

Imagine how shocked and scared Mary Magdelene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome must have been. All they wanted to do was to put some spices for Jesus and then to find out that the stone over the tomb has moved?! WHAT HAPPENED. Imagine how they felt when the angel told them that Jesus isn’t here, and asked “why look for the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5). Imagine their confusion. Must have been pretty hysterical. But they had such a huge amount of faith to proclaim it to the rest of the Apostles and to the whole world, and to us.

To me, Easter isn’t just a day to eat chocolate eggs and chocolate bunnies. Easter is a day of celebration, to sing, dance, and bask in the glory of the Risen Lord. It may seem like a normal day to you, but to me, those 40 days of Lent (prayer, fast and almsgiving) has lead up to this final event which is the very beginning of the Church. To sing the Gloria, Alleluia and hymns of joy during Easter Vigil mass felt like those 40 days meant something and the wait has ended for Christ has risen from the dead!

Easter will always be my favourite thing, and the best reason to remain a Catholic. For the true meaning of Easter is that Jesus is still living among us for “having been raised from the dead will never die again” (Romans 6:9). And the fact that the stone rolled away, means our God conquered it all.

P.S. I don’t mean to impose anything on anyone but Easter is hUGE in the Catholic church. And also in my life.
